Premier League reveals its new logo

The Premier League will have a new look come the 2016-17 season.

The Premier League is losing its longtime sponsor, Barclays, after the 2015-16 season, but that's not the only change coming to England's top flight.

The league revealed its new branding and logo on Tuesday, going with a simpler look that incorporates the league's trademark lion and "is flexible in digital and broadcast formats."

“From next season we will move away from title sponsorship and the competition will be known simply as the Premier League, a decision which provided the opportunity to consider how we wanted to present ourselves as an organization and competition," Premier League managing director Richard Masters said on the league's official website. "We are very pleased with the outcome: a visual identity which is relevant, modern and flexible that will help us celebrate everyone that makes the Premier League.

Just how the logo is manipulated and used remains to be seen, but Masters says more will be revealed soon enough.

"We look forward to sharing more details of our new positioning in the coming months," he said.
