Watch: Tim Howard on his MLS return, USMNT, Leicester City
U.S. men's national team and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is returning to MLS this summer with the Colorado Rapids, and he appeared SI Now this week on the heels of the USA's two World Cup qualifiers against Guatemala.
Howard is platooning with Brad Guzan in the U.S. goal, something that he insists he does not mind. Despite outside criticism of U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann, Howard maintains that Klinsmann is "a brilliant human being" and "is the man to take us forward."
Before Howard, 37, joins the Rapids–where he says he'll be like "a freshman" while playing with a new squad–he sees out his days at Everton, where he has spent the last 10 years of his career. With Everton playing EPL leader Leicester City in the penultimate game of the season, the Toffees have a chance to play spoiler as the Foxes chase a most improbable league title. "I wasn't a believer until recently," Howard says of Claudio Ranieri's side.
Howard also touches on the U.S. women's national team's wage discrimination complaint filed against U.S. Soccer on Thursday, saying the men's team can "understand and appreciate the fight they are right now embarking on."
