Bayern Munich will play Atletico Madrid and Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semifinals following Friday's draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

The draw results means neither a Madrid derby nor a Pep Guardiola derby (he is leaving Bayern Munich for Manchester City next season) would be possible until the final on May 28 at Milan's San Siro.

Bayern vs. Atletico is a rematch of the 1974 final, one that went to a replay after a 1-1 draw. Bayern won the second meeting 4-0 to lift the European trophy for the first time. Bayern reached the semifinals with a memorable comeback against Juventus in the round of 16 before fending off Benfica in the quarterfinals, while Atletico Madrid ousted PSV Eindhoven in penalties and then toppled defending champion Barcelona in the knockout stage.

Their semifinal will begin in Madrid on April 27 and conclude in Munich on May 3.

In the other matchup, Manchester City is in its first Champions League semifinal, while Real Madrid is vying for its 11th European championship. Outgoing City manager Manuel Pellegrini managed Real Madrid in 2009-2010 and will be looking to continue his run with the Citizens before departing to make way for Guardiola. City eliminated Dynamo Kyiv and Paris Saint-Germain to reach this point, while Real Madrid shut out Roma in two legs before needing a Cristiano Ronaldo-led comeback to get by Wolfsburg.

The two sides will meet in Manchester on April 26 before heading to Madrid's Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg on May 4.
