Another major tournament for the USA, another hamstring injury that will keep Jozy Altidore from participating.

Altidore will be out for 6-8 weeks, ruling him out of contention for Copa America Centenario, Toronto FC announced on Monday.

Altidore injured his hamstring in Toronto FC's 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps over the weekend. It will mark the third consecutive big tournament for the USA that will see him hampered by the same injury. Altidore was hurt in the early stages of the opening game of the 2014 World Cup against Ghana and was forced out for the remainder of the tournament. He then missed last summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup with a hamstring injury and has suffered the same fate again this year. Previously, Altidore was injured during the 2011 Gold Cup and was forced to miss the semifinals and final.

Altidore told reporters in the winter that he made a point of losing weight and getting in better shape to avoid this exact scenario from unfolding again.

With Altidore, the third-leading scorer in U.S. men's national team history, out, Clint Dempsey, Jordan Morris, Bobby Wood, Gyasi Zardes and Chris Wondolowski will all be options to contribute at forward for manager Jurgen Klinsmann, who must submit his final 23-man roster by Friday.
