A group of Croatian fans are planning to throw flares at referee Bjorn Kuipers during the team’s match against Spain, the president of Croatia’s police union confirmed to Goal.com.
Croatia was already fined 100,000 Euros after its fans threw flares on the field and clashed with security during an earlier match against the Czech Republic. Croatian police also said the country’s fans were planning to attack Kuipers during the match.
The Croatian football federation has urged fans to not engage in violence during Tuesday’s match.
“We urge you to support Croatia towards success in a fair and correct way,” read a federation statement via the Hindustan Times. “Let’s say no to discrimination, racism and violence.”
UEFA has also ordered the federation to not sell tickets to the 326 fans that Croatian police listed as potential hooligans before Euros started.
