Watch: Iceland stuns England in Euro 2016 round of 16
The Iceland underdog story is headed to the Euro 2016 quarterfinals and a date with host France.
Depsite conceding an early penalty to England, Iceland recovered immediately through Ragnar Sigurdsson, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored soon after and Iceland's defense held firm, eliminating the Three Lions in stunning fashion.
The Euro 2016 qualifying darlings have brought their magic to France, with Iceland finishing second in its group–ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal–and now securing its first knockout win in a major competition early.
It didn't look like it'd be a promising day in the opening minutes, though.
Wayne Rooney, who tied David Beckham's England record for caps for an outfield player (115) took matters into his own feet in the fourth minute, converting a penalty kick to give England a 1-0 lead. Raheem Sterling drew the penalty after he was taken down by Iceland goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson:
But it was a short-lived one. Sigurdsson volleyed home from close range after Kari Arnason's flicked-on header from a throw-in, bringing Iceland level almost immediately:
Iceland took a 2-1 lead in the 18th minute through Sigthorsson, though he was aided in a big way by Joe Hart, who should've done better to keep out the meekly hit shot:
Sigurdsson nearly got his second in spectacular fashion in the 56th minute, his bicycle kick attempt from close range was hit right at Hart, who made the stop:

Sigurdsson proved his worth on the other end of the field as well, coming up with a perfectly timed tackle on Jamie Vardy to prevent the Leicester star and England substitute from breaking through on goal for an equalizer:
