Orlando City has hired Jason Kreis as its new head coach, the team announced Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Orlando City fired Adrian Heath, who had managed the club since 2011, when it was a member of the USL.

“We are very excited that we have got our man. Jason is a progressive thinking and highly ambitious coach, who is very familiar with success in MLS,” Orlando City Phil Rawlins said in a statement. “Jason’s playing philosophy is the same attack-minded, possession-oriented style of soccer that we have built our Club around. He is a winner who checks all the boxes for us.”

Kreis was most recently the head coach of New York City FC during the club’s inaugural season in MLS, but he was sacked after one season. He also coached Real Salt Lake from 2007–2013, winning the MLS Cup in 2009.

Over his career, Kreis has coached 274 games, compiling a 112–95–67 record.
