USWNT heads to Olympics unbeaten as Dunn, Pugh goals down Costa Rica

U.S. women's national team newcomers Crystal Dunn and Mallory Pugh scored as the United States won its last friendly match 4–0 against Costa Rica before leaving for Brazil and the 2016 Olympics next month.

Meghan Klingenberg was wide open on the left side and successfully crossed the ball over to Dunn, who scored in her second straight game to put the United States up 1–0 early.

Just moments later 18-year-old Mallory Pugh charged down on the left side and found the net without hitting the goal post and extended the American lead to 2–0.

Lloyd also managed to find the net in the second half with an assist from Becky Sauerbrunn.

Christen Press capitalized on a Costa Rican turnover as she found herself behind the defense and added the final goal of the night to cap off the victory.

After winning last summer's World Cup, the United States women look to capture their fourth straight Olympic medal. The United States has won fix of six gold medals in Olympic competition.

The U.S. will play New Zealand, France and Colombia in group play at the Summer Games.
