Barcelona thrashed Sevilla 3-0 in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup, winning the trophy for a record 13th time on a 5-0 aggregate on Wednesday.

First-leg goals from Luis Suarez and Munir El Haddadi on Sunday had Barcelona poised to lift the piece of silverware after a 2-0 road victory, and Arda Turan and Lionel Messi made sure that was the case in front of more than 71,000 pleased supporters at Camp Nou.

Just 10 minutes in, Turan scored after a deft assist from Messi, making the hill that much steeper for Sevilla, a 3-0 deficit on aggregate.

Sevilla was given a lifeline when Barcelona was whistled for a handball, but goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, the subject of transfer rumors to Manchester City, came up with a massive save, denying captain Vicente Iborra with a diving stop.

Turan removed any lingering doubt in the opening moments of the second half with a tremendous shot from distance, making it 2-0 on the day, 4-0 on aggregate.

Messi added to the rout with a header in the 55th minute, piling it on and making it 5-0 on aggregate.

Barcelona opens the new La Liga campaign on Saturday against Real Betis.

Sevilla, which also finished runner-up in the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid this summer, begins its season Saturday as welll, against Espanyol.
