Watch: Paul Pogba scores on laser from long range for France vs. Netherlands
Paul Pogba has his share of critics for his play so far at Manchester United following his world-record signing this summer, but there was absolutely nothing bad that could be said about his long-range effort for France in Monday's World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands.
Pogba took a pass from Dimitri Payet an unleashed a blast from some 35 yards that Maarten Stekelenburg simply could not handle, giving Les Bleus the 1-0 lead in Amsterdam in a vital early match in group play. The goal, which stood up in France's 1-0 victory, was his first goal for France in five games, with his last coming in the Euro 2016 quarterfinals against Iceland.
After three qualifiers, France and Sweden top Group A with seven points, while the Netherlands sits in third with four.
Bulgaria (three points), Belarus (two) and Luxembourg (one) complete the six-team group.
