Kevin Mirallas believes Everton are currently a better club to play for than Manchester United.

The Toffees have been busy during the summer transfer window, signing attacking players like Davy Klaassen, Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez as well as making defensive additions in the form of Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane.

Romelu Lukaku has recently made the switch from Everton to United, but Mirallas believes his Belgium teammate may have made the wrong decision in leaving Goodison Park for Old Trafford.

He said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo: “Everyone knows Romelu scored a lot of goals for Everton.

“He was so important in the last four seasons.

“But we have added a lot of players to the squad who have the possibility to score 10 or 15 goals.

“If five or six players score 10 goals, that is better than one Romelu. That is important.

“He has gone to United; that is life.

“I think Everton is better.”

Mirallas believes the presence of Rooney and others will more than compensate for the loss of Lukaku, who scored 68 Premier League goals during his four seasons with Everton.

He added: “It is always good when you play with good players – and Wayne is fantastic.

“Everyone knows him. He came back here because he wants to help Everton. It was the best move for him, for his family, for everyone.

“The other thing is that he has a lot of experience to help the young players."

Rooney became United's record goalscorer last season, finishing his Red Devils career with 253 strikes, but could only manage eight goals in 39 appearances last term.
