Jose Mourinho's winger of choice is not the much-speculated Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, but Gareth Bale of Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho is targeting a winger to purchase, after reportedly close to completing a £40m deal for Chelsea's Nemanja Matic.
However, according to the Telegraph, Mourinho's winger of choice is not the much-speculated Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, but Gareth Bale of Real Madrid.
Following the singing of Matic by the Portuguese coach, it is now understood that the 'special one' wishes to supplement his purchase of a new striker, midfielder and centre-back by adding an attacking wide-man to the squad.
Although Inter's Perisic is certainly being touted as a potential buy, the Milanese club are playing hard-to-get regarding negotiations, as striking a deal for the Croatian continues to prove a challenge.
Although Bale's Madrid are proving equally as difficult to deal with, they appear to be the preferred option as if the Spanish side can secure a replacement for the Welshman, a deal may still be possible before the transfer window closes.
Currently in the La Liga giant's sights is the Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe, who could make the move to Los Blancos for a bank-breaking fee, but is also being jealously guarded by his parent club.
If a move for the 18-year-old French forward does materialise, then the way could be clear for Gareth Bale to complete a sensational move to Old Trafford. As with many stories reported during this transfer window though, the saga could continue until the final day.
