Internazionale are still looking to add strength to their defence as the window draws to a close and are targeting West Ham's Italian centre-back Angelo Ogbonna.
Inter are also prepared to offer highly-rated Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in a swap deal for Ogbonna, according to Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio. However, the West Ham defender is making the move difficult with his reluctance to leave.
Brozovic played 26 times for Inter last season, scoring five goals from his preferred central midfield role.
The Croatian is only 24-years-old and, despite failing to fully win over the Inter bosses and fans at San Siro, had reportedly also attracted the interest of Arsenal earlier in the window.
West Ham are also looking to make further signings before Thursday night's deadline, after a disappointing start to the season, which has seen them lose all of their first three games, while conceding 10 goals.
Hammers fans had been optimistic ahead of the new season after securing moves for high-profile targets Javier Hernandez, Joe Hart and Marko Arnautovic.
However things have yet to work out as planned and manager Slaven Bilic is keen to make further additions as his position comes under threat after the poor start.
Brozovic is a player that interests Bilic, with the manager knowing of him from his days as Croatia boss.
However, Ogbonna is reportedly not keen on a move to San Siro as he wishes to stay in London, while Inter may refocus their efforts on trying to push through deals for Shkodran Mustafi and Eliaqium Mangala instead.
