Jordi Alba has insisted that it is his ‘dream’ to stay at Barcelona and is confident that his contract will be renewed, with his current deal due to expire in June 2020.
The 29-year-old has been a near ever-present at left back for the Catalan giants since returning to Camp Nou from Valencia in 2012. However, uncertainty has begun to build over the defender’s future as his contract enters its final 18 months.

Alba remains a central figure under Ernesto Valverde and the Spaniard told Sport: “I’m optimistic about the renewal. It is clear that my dream is to stay at Barcelona.
“It would be difficult to have come so far to then leave. I have my family here, their support, as well as the fans and my teammates.
“I don’t think I could be happier than [I am] here.”
Alba further dismissed the notion of an eventual move away from the Camp Nou, insisting that he intends to see out his playing days with Barcelona.
“In football you never know, but I have repeated that my intention is to stay here” Alba added.
“No, I’ve never seen myself away from Barcelona since being at Barcelona is my dream.
“Over the years, I have improved a lot and [now] I notice the affection of the supporters a lot more. I have always seen myself at Barcelona and my dream is to retire at Barcelona.”
