‘Very Helpful’—Arne Slot Reveals Major Alexander Isak Injury News

Alexander Isak will return to Liverpool training this week after three months out with a fractured leg and ankle injury.
The Premier League record signing suffered the problem in a collision that happened while scoring against Tottenham Hotspur five days before Christmas.
Sidelined ever since, Isak is to participate in team training on Thursday.
“I think Alex is in a really good place because Sweden qualified for the World Cup yesterday evening, and apart from that he’s going to train with the group again for the first time tomorrow,” Slot revealed in a brief interview with Liverpoolfc.com on Wednesday.
“If you’ve worked so hard for three, four months or something like that and then to return to team training, that’s for everyone [is] very nice. So, Alex is, in that sense, in a good place.”
Isak Comeback Date Not Set

A return to training with the rest of the group is not the final step. Having suffered all season with his fitness after a summer spent trying to force his way out of Newcastle United, the Swedish striker will need more time to build himself into the right condition to play matches.
“It’s only his first session after three or four months [out], but it’s good to have him back because we all know who we signed, and we’ve signed an incredible striker,” Slot added.
“To have him again in a team that’s usually generating quite a lot chances—and maybe not immediately he can start—for the last two months [of the season] is, I think, very helpful for us.”
Liverpool travel to Manchester City in the FA Cup on April 4, a game Isak almost certainly won’t play. After that, the Reds are in Champions League quarterfinal action against Paris Saint-Germain, with the two legs of that tie sandwiching a Premier League clash with Fulham.
Isak Has Plenty to Prove

Seven months after a $168.75 million (£125 million) transfer made him the most expensive player in English soccer history, Isak can so far be considered among the worst signings of 2025–26.
He arrived lacking fitness and didn’t score his first Premier League goal for the club until the end of November. The goal against Spurs that caused the injury was only Isak’s second in the league.
Liverpool were signing a striker who had scored 52 goals for Newcastle across all in competitions in the previous two seasons. But this version of Isak will be lucky to reach 10 this term.
With Mohamed Salah leaving at the end of the campaign, there will shortly be a huge void when it comes to Liverpool’s primary source of goals. Isak has to get himself to a place where he can fill it.
