Brittany Mahomes to Make SI Swimsuit Rookie Debut

Fitness entrepreneur and NWSL team owner Brittany Mahomes was unveiled as the newest member of the SI Swimsuit family on Thursday and is set to make her debut in the 2024 issue, to be released in May.

The 28-year-old Mahomes, wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has been a common sight in the audience for her husband’s Kansas City Chiefs during the NFL season. For the upcoming SI Swimsuit issue, she stripped down to her core and laid out a poignant message to the magazine’s readers.

“I want women to feel empowered to always be yourself, love yourself and feel confident in whatever you do, and I think SI Swimsuit does, too,” Mahomes said. “Be confident in who you are and be unapologetically yourself. People are going to love you or hate you, but finding your values and what makes you the best version of yourself is what really matters.”

Mahomes also dropped an inspirational line that fellow WAG Taylor Swift would be proud of: “I want people to know they can accomplish anything, even things you never thought would be possible in your wildest dreams.”

Mahomes, who launched her own fitness company in 2019, played soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler. She enjoyed a brief professional soccer stint for UMF Afturelding in Iceland before pivoting to her current fitness-centric career, aided by her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.

“I think of all the incredible athletes I’ve grown up watching over the years,” Mahomes said. “Athletes like Alex Morgan, Sue Bird and Ronda Rousey have all graced the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. “Just seeing elite athletes go out of their comfort zone [and pose for the magazine] is so inspiring!”

Brittany married Patrick in March 2022, and the two are proud parents to daughter Sterling Skye and son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon. The fitness entrepreneur also takes great pride in another part of her life, as a part-owner of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current.

Mahomes helped spearhead efforts to get the team its own stadium this year. CPKC Stadium, the first soccer stadium built exclusively for a women’s professional sports team, is scheduled to open this spring.

“Owner of the Kansas City Current NWSL team, former pro athlete, wife and mother, Brittany emerges as the epitome of a modern-day powerhouse,” said SI Swimsuit editor-in-chief MJ Day. “Founder of the world’s first ever dedicated stadium for women’s sports, Brittany’s journey has surpassed all expectations, inspiring others with her tenacity and unyielding determination. We are proud to welcome her to the SI Swimsuit family where she will undoubtedly continue to empower women worldwide.”
