ISTANBUL -- Vera Zvonareva admitted to being tired as her year draws to a close. But when asked whether she thought the offseason should be longer, she articulated a very good summation of the scheduling dilemma.

"There are some pluses and there are some minuses," Zvonareva said Tuesday after her loss to Petra Kvitova at the WTA Championships. "Those people that played a lot of matches throughout the season, and I'm among them, those people that play until the end including the Championships and including the Fed Cup, well, it will be good to have extra weeks of rest, for sure, because we are pretty tired and we had a long season.

"But those players that weren't involved, for example, here in the Championships or the Fed Cup tournament, and those players that played maybe twice less matches than I did during [the] season, for them, maybe they need to play. It's enough time before the new season.
