Novak Djokovic named one of 'Time Magazine's' 100 most influential people

What do Barack Obama, Rihanna, Louis CK, and Novak Djokovic have in common? They're all on Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

“The TIME 100 list is about the infinite possibilities of influence and the power of influence to change the world," writes Rick Stengel, Time's Managing Editror. "The economist Elinor Ostrom, who is on our list this year, has written about the tragedy of the commons, which is the idea that self-interest can undermine the common good. We look for the antidote to this: how individuals can start a chain reaction of virtue, shaping events in ways that can become both viral and enduring."

Djokovic isn't the first tennis player to make Time's list. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams have all made the list in recent years. While Djokovic's influence on the court is obvious, it's his off-court influence that sets him apart.

He's a national hero, a one man public relations machine for Serbia, and the face of a tiny nation that's trying hard to turn the page in the history books. That's a tremendous burden on the 24-year-old, but he's worn it well. No one knows what the future holds for Serbia, but there's no doubt Djokovic has, and will, play a big part in it.
