• Video: The Australian Open rolled out this preview video on Monday, which means, apparently, the tournament is only a few months away. Are you ready? Yeah, me neither.
• As the fall season begins, Steve Tignor and Kamakshi Tandon went back and forth about the season so far and what we can expect at the end of the year for Tennis.com. You can read Part 2 here. Here's Tignor on the flip-flopping status of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray:
Not that Nadal won’t be back, and be as good as ever—it seems like a long time ago now, but he was very close to winning the first two majors of the year. But I do feel like he’ll have to make some compromises with his schedule in the future; he’s started to talk about adding clay and subtracting hard courts, which would probably have a negative effect on his ranking in the future. And now that Murray has the first one out of the way, his status changes. In 2011 and now in 2012, power has been democratized just a tiny bit more on the men’s side. I just hope we won’t begin to see a slow fade from both Federer and Nadal. I’m betting against it.
• Bobby Chintapalli chats with Petra Kvitova for USA Today about her English, which has been getting remarkably better. I may be in the minority here but there's a part of me that doesn't want Petra's English to get perfect. Much like Rafael Nadal, her little language quirks are tremendously endearing personality traits.
• Caroline Wozniacki says she wasn't to blame for Rory McIlroy's tardiness on the final day of Ryder Cup. Phew! Glad we cleared that up.
• Non-tennis: Good read here on the Ryder Cup with some implications for tennis. How many times have we seen a match turn because a player "commits" while the other simply "tries"?
