The second round of the Australian Open got under way at Melbourne Park on Wednesday.

No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska made quick work of Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3, 6-3.

Japanese fans cheer on No. 16 Kei Nishikori, who beat Carlos Berlocq 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-1.

No. 5 Angelique Kerber beat Lucie Hradecka 6-3, 6-1. U.S. teen Madison Keys is next for the German.

American Brian Baker retired from his second-round match with No. 20 Sam Querrey due to a torn meniscus. Baker was up 7-6 (2), 1-1 at the time.

Querrey, the only seeded U.S. man, advanced to a third-round date with No. 15 Stanislas Wawrinka.

Keys, 17, took out No. 30 Tamira Paszek 6-2, 6-1 to continue her rise.

No. 5 Tomas Berdych dispatched Guillaume Rufin 6-2, 6-2, 6-4.

No. 6 Li Na, a finalist in 2011, swept Olga Govortsova 6-2, 7-5.

Australian fans don't have much to cheer about anymore as almost all of their players have been eliminated.

No. 4 David Ferrer beat American Tim Smyczek 6-0, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. He'll face former Aussie Open finalist No. 28 Marcos Baghdatis next.

Maria Sharapova became the first player since 1985 to win her first two matches 6-0, 6-0 at a major.

No. 9 Sam Stosur served twice for the match but lost 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 to Zheng Jie, continuing her run of poor showings at her home Slam.

No. 25 Venus Williams set up a showdown with Sharapova by beating Alize Cornet 6-3, 6-3.

No. 1 Novak Djokovic beat American Ryan Harrison 6-1, 6-2, 6-3. The Serb faces No. 31 Radek Stepanek in the third round.
