Janowicz melts down on way to win

No. 24 Jerzy Janowicz climbed from a two-sets-to-love deficit to beat Somdev Devvarman 6-7, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0, 7-5 in the second round of the Australian Open, but not before completely losing his temper and going into full-on meltdown mode. On set point in the first-set tiebreak, Janowicz looked to have secured the set when Devvarman pulled a forehand wide that was called in. With no Hawkeye out on Court 8, Janowicz appealed to the chair umpire for an overrule to no avail.

That's when the guttural screaming began.

"How many times? How many times? How many? I'm begging you!" he screamed before spitting on the line. "It's no fun to play like this!"

After Janowicz lost the set 12-10 he tossed a ball softly at the umpire's direction, hit the umpire's chair with his racket and threw a water bottle across the court, earning a code violation.

"I got warning only because I was shouting," the emotional Pole said after. "I didn't say anything bad. I was only shouting, so this was the problem. Because umpire told me I got a warning because I was shouting. They play some matches around us, so this was the problem. I didn't say anything bad, so I hope I not have to pay."

Expect to see some fines.

"Well, sometimes happens like this," he said. "You can't control your emotions all the time. This was really big point for me. We played this set for more than 1 hour, 10 minutes, so this was really important point for me.
