'Fan Favorite' among three honors for Roger Federer in annual ATP awards

Everybody loves Roger Federer.

Federer was honored three times in the 2013 ATP World Tour Awards: He won the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for the ninth time in a vote of his peers; he won the Fans' Favorite award for the 11th consecutive year; and he won the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award (which he also received in 2006) for his foundation's charitable work with children in Africa and Switzerland.

In other awards, Rafael Nadal won Comeback Player of the Year, a no-brainer after he returned in February from a seven-month absence to win 10 titles, including the French Open and U.S. Open, and compile a 71-6 record heading into this week's ATP World Tour Finals. Nadal, 27, is on the cusp of finishing the year at No. 1 for the first time since 2010. He beat out Somdev Devvarman, Tommy Robredo and Dmitry Tursunov for the award.

Bob and Mike Bryan swept the doubles award for the fifth year in a row. The 35-year-old twins won the first three majors of the year, making them the first doubles team in the Open era to hold all four Grand Slam titles (and the Olympic gold medal) at the same time. Their bid for a calendar-year Grand Slam ended in the U.S. Open semifinals, but the Bryans still have a career-high-tying 11 titles this year. They are going for No. 12 at the Tour Finals.

Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta, 22, was named Most Improved Player after climbing from No. 715 to a career-high No. 66 on the strength of a 35-match winning streak on the Futures circuit. The other nominees were Ivan Dodig, Fabio Fognini and Stanislas Wawrinka.
