Roger Federer and his longtime agent, Tony Godsick, have started their own athlete management firm called Team8, according to The New York Times.

The firm, which will be based in Cleveland, has already signed two big-name clients: Juan Martin del Potro -- who recently split with his agent Ugo Colombini -- and 22-year-old Grigor Dimitrov. Godsick left the International Management Group (IMG) in 2012, wanting to build something on his own, and took Federer with him.

With Federer still active on the circuit, Godsick confirmed to The Times that the Swiss star will just be a client for now, as opposed to an active partner. However, the firm also could be an indication of Federer's interest in getting into the business side of the game after his career is over.

“I can sell Roger Federer really well, but nobody sells Roger better than Roger,” Godsick told The Times. “I always joke with him, ‘Look, you’ve been really successful on the tennis court, but I promise you, you’ll be more successful when you’re done playing tennis.’”
