Eugenie Bouchard hires Marko Dragic as coach for Rogers Cup

TORONTO (AP) Canada's Eugenie Bouchard will be coached by Marko Dragic at the Rogers Cup, splitting with Sam Sumyk after six months and a drop in the rankings.

Bouchard fell from No. 7 to No. 26 in the world, exiting from tournaments in the early rounds this season. Last year, she advanced to the semifinals at her first three Grand Slam events, reaching the Wimbledon final under longtime coach Nick Saviano.

''I just feel like I haven't been quite myself, my confident, aggressive game lately and that's something that I've been working on very hard in practice,'' Bouchard said at a news conference Friday.

She's lost 12 of her last 14 matches in WTA Tour and Fed Cup play.

''I have the belief, and I know my skills are still there and nothing can just vanish,'' she said. ''It's just about working hard to getting back on track.''

Bouchard will work with Dragic at the Rogers Cup, but said she has ''not made plans for something more permanent right now.'' The 21-year-old knows what she wants in her next full-time coach.

''I'm looking for someone who can help me improve all areas of my game,'' she said. ''I think it's very important to be able to address the technical side, the tactical side, the mental side and the physical side.''

Bouchard will face Belinda Bencic on Tuesday in the first round of the Rogers Cup. If Bouchard wins, she would face No. 5 Caroline Wozniacki in the second round.
