College careers of 2003 top 10

Ernie Sims

Sims left Florida State following his junior season and was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round (10th overall) of the NFL Draft. He started in his final 23 games for the Seminoles. As a junior, he earned honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors and was a Butkus Award semifinalist.

Reggie Bush

Bush won the Heisman Trophy, Doak Walker Award, Walter Camp Award and was a consensus All-American as a junior. He declared for the NFL Draft and was selected No. 2 overall by the New Orleans Saints. Bush finished his three-year college career with 6,551 all-purpose yards (10th in NCAA history).

Whitney Lewis

Lewis (left) signed with USC out of high school, but injuries, academic issues and steep competition limited his success at USC. He transferred to Northern Iowa prior to the 2006 season but appeared in only seven games for the Panthers. He rushed for 360 yards and three touchdowns on 80 carries.

Andre Caldwell

Caldwell played in the first 28 games of his UF career and started 15 in a row before breaking his leg on a kickoff return against Tennessee in early 2005 and missing the rest of the season. He returned to help the Gators win the national championship with 57 receptions for 577 yards and six touchdowns in 2006.

Kyle Wright

Wright has been the starting quarterback for the Hurricanes for the past two seasons. His numbers, and UM's win total, tapered off dramatically in 2006. He passed for 1,650 yards and just eight touchdowns after posting 2,403 passing yards and 18 TDs in 2005. The Hurricanes finished a disappointing 7-6 after winning nine games the previous season.

Prescott Burgess

Burgess was a starter on a Wolverines defense that finished No. 1 in the nation against the run in 2006. He was Michigan's second-leading tackler with 50 total stops, including 32 solo. He had 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and two interceptions in his final year of eligibility.

Tony Hills Jr.

The former high school tight end bulked up 40-plus pounds and became the starter at left tackle for the Longhorns. He earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors. In his first two seasons he backed up All-American Jonathan Scott.

Jorrie Adams

The former prep offensive lineman was switched to defense by Aggies coaches and redshirted in 2003. Adams played in 12 games on the A&M defensive line in 2004. He showed his promise by making seven tackles in a game against Texas. Adams was suspended by coach Dennis Franchione in March 2005 and was dismissed from the team three months later.

Paul Oliver

After waiting his turn in a talented and deep secondary, Oliver started all 13 games in 2006. He was fifth on the team in tackles with 57, including 46 solo stops (third on the team). Oliver added 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and three interceptions.

Greg Olsen

Olsen originally committed to Notre Dame -- where his brother Chris was a quarterback. The brothers transferred during preseason practice, and Greg went to Coral Gables. He had 40 receptions for 489 yards and one touchdown this season, and he has decided to leave UM early to enter the NFL Draft.
