Monster Trucks

The Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis was the site of a Monster Truck Jam on Feb. 17, consisting of two events: racing and freestyle.

Black Stallion defeated fan-favorite Grave Digger in the first round.

Scarlet Bandit, Predator and Iron Warrior all suffered early defeats and were not a factor in the freestyle competition.

T-Maxx advanced to the finals after defeating King Krunch in the second round and Prowler in the semifinals.

Maximum Destruction dominated El Matador to advance to the finals.

For the finals, Monster Jam officials had Maximum Destruction and T-Maxx run two laps around the course instead of one, with Destruction pulling away for the victory.

In the freestyle event, King Krunch started strong but rolled his truck halfway through the run.

Grave Digger soared over obstacles in the freestyle competition...

but lost a wheel after landing.

Undaunted, driver Pablo Huffaker continued on three wheels with "Digger" donuts...

and destroying obstacles to fill the clock and take the lead in scoring.

Maximum Destruction responded by flying over Grave Digger, which had been left on the track stuck on an obstacle.

Max-D eventually flipped over alongside Digger as the clock expired, resulting in a tie.

Driver Tom Meents remained in Maximum Destruction as the truck was turned back onto all fours, allowing him to give the fans a body shredding encore.

Meents received a standing ovation from some in the capacity crowd for his freestyles.
