Fresno State adds wrestling, women's water polo

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) Fresno State is adding wrestling and women's water polo to its athletic department.

Athletic director Jim Bartko said Tuesday the programs will be ready to play in the 2017-18 season. The additions give Fresno State 21 NCAA Division I sanctioned sports.

The school has raised money to support both sports for their first three seasons. Bartko says coaches are expected to be hired this spring.

Fresno State dropped wrestling in 2006. The program had won six individual national championships and had 33 All-Americans before disbanding.
