YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) Former boxing champion Kelly Pavlik has been indicted on felony charges in northeast Ohio after being accused of shooting a man with a pellet gun.

The Vindicator newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1Un1YIB ) that a Mahoning County grand jury Thursday indicted the 33-year-old Pavlik on two counts of felonious assault for an incident last August at his home in Canfield.

The newspaper reported that the man was helping dig a lake on Pavilk's property and told police he was shot in the head and the arm while testing the lake's depth.

Authorities have identified the weapon as a .22-caliber pellet gun. Pavlik was originally charged with misdemeanor assault.

Pavlik's attorney said he expects Pavlik to be exonerated.

Pavlik, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, held multiple world middleweight titles from 2007 to 2010.
