Price shares opening day lead at youth match racing regatta

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) Harry Price of Australia, ranked No. 6 in the world, went 5-0 Tuesday at the Youth Match Racing World Championship to share the lead with New Zealand's George Anyon and Italy's Ettorre Botticini.

Price is considered the favorite even though he finished fourth two weeks ago in the Governor's Cup International Youth Match Racing Championship, which also was sailed at the Balboa Yacht Club.

The three skippers who finished ahead of him in the Governor's Cup aren't in this regatta.

The two teams from the United States, skippered by Newport Beach native Charlie Welsh and Greiner Hobbs of Florida, as well as Matt Whitfield of Great Britain, all have three wins.

After the double round robin, the top four teams will sail in the semifinals on Friday. The finals are Saturday.
