Karrion Kross (formerly known as Killer Kross) thinks his name change helped expand his character but what he's always needed was a promotion to believe in him. He finally has that now with NXT.

Karrion Kross is one of those talents who looks like he can be the featured piece of NXT programming. With his unique ensemble with real life girlfriend Scarlett, some even think that the duo could run atop the company with the NXT title

Kaitlin O'Toole is joined by SI's Justin Barasso for his take on this.

Kaitlin O'Toole: Karrion Kross thinks his name change helped expand his character. But what he's always needed was a promotion to believe in him. And he finally has that NXT. Joining me now is SI's Justin Barrasso. Justin, Karrion Kross is one of those talents who looks like he could be the feature piece on NXT programming. What makes him so special and where did WWE find him?

Justin Barrasso: Great question. Karrion Kross was Killer Cross and he was a starter in a few different promotions, mainly impact wrestling. But he was in Triple-A, which is based out of Mexico. FSW based out of Las Vegas bloodsport. So he was around, Kevin was around. But you're right, he never really had that promotion to believe in. And it seemed like it was headed that way. Triple-A, but with impact. There was a falling out there. You know, it's funny to and sometimes in wrestling we're always looking for the next big thing. Sometimes your promotion already has the guy. So I think NXT, Triple H was was thrilled to be able to sign Killer Cross to a deal and they transitioned him into Karrion Kross. I do think the name change helps. It's tough to be called Killer in 2020. You know, it's not 1976 wrestling, but I think there's so many, so much opportunity for him to tie into mythology and different aspects with the Karrion name and he's just an intense, unique thinker, especially in his promos and his interviews. So I definitely think it plays well. And his style on the rings great, too, is easy. Again, he's intense. He's hard-hitting. Everything looks snug. It looks physical. It looks real. Yeah. He's a big signing for NXT.

Kaitlin O'Toole: I watch his intro and I was really just taken back, you know, Kross and I mean, Karrion Kross and Scarlett have this really unique ensemble. They work so well together. Do you envision them being top NXT title in the future?

Justin Barrasso: Like top of the card?

Kaitlin O'Toole: Yes.

Justin Barrasso: Yeah, I think so. You know, I think she's got lots of potential, too. It's always interesting in these pairings that particularly when it's when it's real life partners, you know, you wonder what happens if one star becomes bigger than the other. And it's not that big a deal. If it's if it's the wrestler, if the rescue becomes bigger than the manager, then it is what it is. It's supposed to be that way. But it'll be interesting, too, because Scarlett is so talented, too. And she presents herself, you know wrestling, so much presentation, and she presents herself in such a dynamic form. Kind of an ass kicker too. So, yeah, they work really well together. I think we'll see if there's gonna be opportunity at the top of that NXT card soon. We saw what he did against Tommaso Ciampa, this past Sunday take over champ is a cornerstone, kind of a linchpin for the NXT. And, you know, you have to you have to make guys make them look good in order to build them. Ciampa lost in what six minutes on Sunday? So, yeah, I think that the plan is to go with Kross, to go with Scarlett. Like you said too a lot of people could have done that intro that his debut last month, but no one could've made it look quite like they did. So I think there's a lot of potential there and I agree. I think there's definitely potential for them on the top of the card.

Kaitlin O'Toole: All right, Jason, thanks so much for your insight on this. Appreciate it.

Justin Barrasso: Thank you.
