Cauldron (caul·dron) noun \ˈkȯl-drən\ — 1) A large pot or kettle; 2) something that resembles a boiling cauldron in intensity or degree of agitation.


Now, I know what you're thinking. Why, exactly, are you supposed to care about yet another purportedly smart sports publication? Why in the world would you exhaust even a fraction of your most valuable commodity—time—patronizing a brand you might not even be aware of? What's in it for you, anyway?

I'm glad you asked. Come on in and make yourself comfortable; the answers are coming.

We founded The Cauldron in June of 2014 with the belief that there was untapped demand for a new, creative approach to national sportswriting, and we knew that we could create a strong, lasting connection with our readers by allowing them to directly contribute to our efforts. We're grateful that the market, thus far, has validated those beliefs. The Cauldron's readership has increased exponentially since then, and notable athletes like Stephen CurryLeVeon BellDeAndre JordanGolden TateJ.R. Smith and others have told incredible stories with us.

Now, we're proud to announce another milestone in the continuing journey of our publication, as we embark on a new partnership with Sports Illustrated. We're thrilled to be able to add value to such an esteemed media outlet, and for an even larger audience to be introduced to our distinct style of sportswriting. Simply put, when you visit The Cauldron—either here or on the Medium platform—you should feel like your time was well spent. The Cauldron will inform, illuminate and provoke you by delivering the things that you have come to expect, and many more that you won't see coming. In the end, our only goal is to produce content that keeps you coming back for more.
