UAB leading scorer Chad Frazier will not return to the team next season and has been granted his release by the school, Frazier's brother told Alex Kline of TheRecruitScoop.com.

Frazier averaged 17.7 points and 4.3 assists per game last season in his first year with the Blazers after transferring from junior college Gulf Coast State. He was named Conference USA's Newcomer of the Year.

The point guard was arrested in June and charged with third-degree domestic assault. At the time, UAB coach Jerod Haase said the team would let the legal process play out before issuing any discipline.

A native of Charlotte, Frazier committed to Oklahoma State and Texas A&M before settling on UAB during his post-junior college recruiting process.

UAB went 18-13 last season, including a 7-9 Conference USA record.
