University of Cincinnati basketball coach Mark Cronin announced that redshirt freshman center Jamaree Strickland will leave the team and transfer to another program, according to a report from a local Fox affiliate.

Strickland, originally from Oakland, CA, played at Queen City Prep in Harrisburg, NC, prior to joining the Bearcats. During the 2012-2013 season with Queen City Prep, Strickland averaged 21 points, eight rebounds and three blocks per game.

Strickland was suspended indefinitely prior Cincinnati's Nov. 25 victory over North Carolina Central for "conduct unbecoming of a Bearcat."

The 6-foot-10 center was forced to sit out last season because the NCAA would not accept his high school courses; he was unable to practice with the team or join it on the bench during games.

Strickland appeared in only one game for the Bearcats this season. He took the floor for less than a minute in Cincinnati's Nov. 19 home victory over Morehead State.

"We wish Jamaree the best going forward," Cronin said.

No information was released about where Strickland would be transferring.
