Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis has an interesting plan to combat student attendance problems at Spartans football games. Hollis told ABC57 that he's exploring the possibility of somehow heating the student section at Spartan Stadium.

Hollis is known for wacky ideas like this. He's the guy that came up with the idea to play a hockey game at Spartan Stadium in 2001. That led to the NHL's Winter Classic and Stadium Series. He was also the one that thought to play a basketball game on an aircraft carrier. That one didn't catch on.

This New York Times shows where college football is the most popular

Heating an outdoor stadium sounds expensive, environmentally irresponsible and potentially dangerous, but if anyone is willing to try, it's Mark Hollis.
