LA Galaxy's Omar Gonzalez makes intruder joke on trip to White House

LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez tweeted a joke about the White House intruder with the same name before the defending MLS champions met President Obama on Monday.

A man named Omar J. Gonzalez was arrested on Sept. 19 for jumping over the White House fence and sprinting across the front lawn.

The Galaxy were at the White House on Monday to meet President Obama as MLS champions for the second time in three seasons.

"Today feels a little like Groundhog Day," Obama joked, according to USA TODAY Sports. "If you're feeling a little déjà vu, you're not alone. Two years ago, we had the Galaxy and the Kings here together, so if you see Bill Murray playing the piano in the foyer, you know something weird's going on."

Gonzalez had several tweets from the event that showed a sense of humor, and a few more that referenced the White House intruder.

The Galaxy won their third MLS title in four seasons last year by defeating the New England Revolution. They will open the 2015 MLS regular season March 6 against the Chicago Fire.

Gonzalez, 26, has been with the Galaxy since 2009, when they selected him in the first round (third overall) of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. He has 11 goals and seven assists in 150 regular-season games played.
