Theo Epstein nearly plunks Cubs mascot with terrible first pitch

With his team off Thursday, Cubs president Theo Epstein threw out the first pitch before the Single-A South Bend Cubs game.
In an unorthodox move, Chicago's' mascot, Clark the Cub, stood in the box for the pitch, waggling an imaginary bat.

There's a lot of questions that come up. Was Epstein intentionally throwing at Clark, or is he just really rusty? Is he jealous because people were more interested in taking pictures with the mascot than with him? Did Clark charge the mound?
