Fifty years ago -- in 1965 -- this camera rigged under second base was one of the many ingenious ways 23-year-old photographer Neil Leifer was taking award-winning shots for SI and Life magazines. What follows are 50 of the images he captured during that sports year -- including assignments at the World Series, Kentucky Derby, the opening of the Astrodome and Cassius Clay vs. Sonny Liston II.

Take It All Off

Torii Hunter has been around baseball long enough to know how to get his money's worth out of an ejection. The Twins outfielder went nuclear Wednesday night after getting tossed for arguing balls and strikes.

Still Technically True

While the Blackhawks were wrapping up their Game 4 victory Thursday night, the Glendale City Council voted to terminate the Arizona Coyotes' lease agreement for the team's home arena. The Coyotes came right back by announcing legal action against the city and, more importantly, throwing some shade with a defiant Twitter bio.

Lovely Lady of the Day

Katherine Webb earns this morning's LLOD honors, and her husband A.J. McCarron is earning rave reviews from a fellow Alabama alum at Bengals minicamp. Not a bad week for the happy couple. (Click here for the full-size gallery.)

The Mt. Rushmore Of NBA Apps

Who's on the Mt. Rushmore of NBA players who never won a ring? What about the Mt. Rushmore of three-point shooters? You can make a monument to any achievement you want with this awesome app from the NBA. To get the ball rolling, here's my (very unscientific) Mt. Rushmore of dunk contest specialists:

Odds and Ends

Kyrie Irving has a Friends tattoo ... This little kid dancing in a Yasiel Puig jersey earns the respect of Vin Scully and, by extension, the world ... NBA 2K15 congratulates the Cavs on winning a title they haven't won yet ... Rex Ryan says the Bills won't have a LeBron at quarterback ... Hot Clicks does not endorse this list of NBA teams in need of a uniform change ...  The days of passing around a bottle opener are behind us forever ... While the women chase the World Cup, the U.S. men's national team is on fire right now in Europe ... Deal with it, NBC: Steven Stamkos says hockey players won't be shaving their playoff beards anytime soon ... It takes a certain type of person to high-five a great white shark.
