The New York Mets have traded outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis to the Los Angeles Angels, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.

The Mets will receive no players in return, only cash, according to the Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin.

Nieuwenhuis, 27, has hit .079 in 40 plate appearances, mostly off the bench, for the Mets in 2015. The outfielder hit .259 last year, with a .346 on-base percentage and 18 extra-base hits in 130 plate appearances.

Angels leftfielders, primarily Matt Joyce and Colin Cowgill, have combined to hit .178 this season, worst in the majors.
