Boston Red Sox players saluted broadcaster Don Orsillo after the team’s final game of the season Sunday. 

Orsillo has been Boston’s regular play-by-play man on NESN since 2005. Earlier this year. the network announced it would not renew the broadcaster’s contract for next season. 

The decision to let Orsillo go was not met warmly by fans, who started an online petition to bring back the broadcaster and rallied on his behalf near the end of August. Orsillo will replace Dick Enberg as the Padres play-by-play announcer after the 2016 season.
