Cubs relief pitcher Travis Wood entered Sunday night’s game against the Mariners to pitch the sixth inning, and provide a little defense in leftfield.

In a double-switch, Pedro Strop replaced Wood at pitcher in the top of the seventh, and the lefthander went out to left for Chris Coghlan. Sure enough, with a runner on and one out, the ball found him.

Franklin Gutierrez lined a pitch deep to left, backing Wood up to the ivy, where he made a tough catch to rob him of extra bases.

Wood was cheered by the fans out in left, and received some high-fives when he returned to the dugout. Catcher David Ross pointed out to him that he missed the cutoff man.
