A public memorial service and viewing will be held for Jose Fernandez on Wednesday, with a private funeral to be held Thursday.

Mourners will process from Marlins Park to the Shrine of Our Lady of Charity beginning at 2:16 p.m. Fernandez wore No. 16. The public viewing will be at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Miami from 4 p.m. to midnight.

"I think the routine of the game is really good for you," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. "You've been doing this almost the whole season. Yeah, we feel it's almost like autopilot, fielding ground balls, take at-bats. It's almost mindless. So it does good to be on the field. It feels good to prepare for a game."

Fernandez and two other men, Eddy Rivero and Emilio Macias, were killed when his 32-foot boat crashed into a rock jetty at full speed on Sunday.

Marlins outfielder Marcel Ozuna said Monday that Fernandez invited him to join him on the boat that night but he declined.

The Marlins honored Fernandez with a pregame ceremony on Monday and will retire his No. 16.
