The Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals meet on Friday for Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

The Nationals finished the regular season with the second-best record in the National League behind the Chicago Cubs, as Washington captured the National League East Division with a 95–67 record.

The Los Angeles Dodgers finished 91–71 for their fourth consecutive National League West Division title.

Game 1 will feature a pitching match-up between both staff aces. Max Scherzer takes the hill for the Nationals after a season in which he made his case for the Cy Young Award and finished the year with a 20–7 record, 2.96 ERA and 284 strikeouts. Clayton Kershaw looks to make up for past playoff struggles as he starts for the Dodgers. Kershaw finished the year 12–4 with a 1.29 ERA and 172 strikeouts.
