The Phillies acquired veteran outfielder/second baseman Howie Kendrick from the Dodgers on Friday in exchange for first baseman Darin Ruf and utilityman Darnell Sweeney.

Kendrick, 33, hit .255 with eight home runs in 487 at-bats in 146 games last season.

Ruf, 30, batted .205 in 83 at-bats in 43 games last season.

Sweeney, 25, made his major league debut last season and hit .176 in 98 at-bats. He can man both middle infield positions in addition to the outfield. He was originally traded to the Phillies from the Dodgers in the Chase Utley deal in August 2015.
