Report: Mavericks to host free agent PG Jameer Nelson on Thursday

Members of the Mavericks front office are scheduled to hold a face-to-face meeting on Thursday in Dallas with free agent point guard Jameer Nelson, Marc Stein of ESPN tweeted Tuesday night.
Nelson, an All-Star in 2009, was waived in June by the Orlando Magic, the team where he spent his entire 10-year career. The 32-year-old veteran out of St. Joseph's was entering the final year of his deal with Orlando. Only a quarter of his $8 million was guaranteed. The Mavs still have a $2.7 million exception to offer Nelson.

The Mavericks acquired point guard Raymond Felton in the offseason -- along with center Tyson Chandler -- via a trade with the Knicks that sent guard Jose Calderon to New York. Despite another injury-plagued season for Nelson, he appeared in 68 games for Orlando while averaging 12.1 points and seven assists in 32 minutes per contest.
