Boston Celtics forward Evan Turner was ejected from Wednesday night’s preseason game against the Toronto Raptors after throwing the basketball at an official.

Turner received a technical foul for arguing with an official during the third quarter of Boston’s 92-89 loss to Toronto. After the whistle blew, Turner threw the ball in the direction of official Eric Lewis, which immediately got him tossed.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens had no problem with the ejection, saying he thought Turner earned an early trip to the showers for his behavior.

Toronto won the game on Louis Williams’ 3-pointer with 0.6 seconds left in the game, which was played in Portland, Maine. Turner played 27 minutes in the loss, scoring 11 points, while adding seven rebounds and six assists.

Turner is entering his first season with Boston, after spending part of last season with the Indiana Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers, where he spent the first three-plus seasons of his career. He has averaged 11.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in his career.

The Celtics have three more preseason contests left before starting the regular season at home against the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 29.
