Detroit Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy called his team "messed up" following Detroit's 106-96 defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.

With the loss, the Pistons fell to 3-15 on the season, the second-worst record in the league ahead of only the winless 76ers. Detroit has lost nine straight games.

"Offensively, we just continue to be awful," Van Gundy told reporters after the game. "We're really messed up right now as a team."

Van Gundy was hired this offseason to be the Pistons' coach and president. Previously, he coached the Orlando Magic

The Pistons last made the playoffs in 2008-09 after appearing in six straight Eastern Conference Finals from 2003 to 2008.

Detroit plays at the Boston Celtics (4-11) on Wednesday night.
