The Miami Heat and the Memphis Grizzlies are discussing a potential trade for guard Mario Chalmers but no deal is imminent, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein.

After playing in a team-high 80 games last season, Chalmers underwent right knee surgery in May to repair an inflamed Plica.

Chalmers is in his eighth season with the Heat after being selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2008 NBA draft and being traded that same night to Miami in exchange for cash and two second round picks for the 2009 draft. He signed a two-year deal to stay with the Heat in July 2014 and is guaranteed $4.3 million for this season.

Chalmers has come off the bench for the first three games of the season and is averaging 6.7 points and 1.8 assists on the year.
