Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr believes Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers deserved to be an NBA All-Star, according to Sam Amick of USA Today.

“He should have been an All-Star,” Kerr told reporters before Golden State faced Portland on Friday. “I voted for him, for the record.”

Kerr added that he was among the coaches who voted to add Lillard as a reserve for the All-Star Game in Toronto.

Lillard dropped 51 points when he faced the Warriors on Feb. 20. The Blazers’ 137–105 victory was the worst under Kerr’s tutelage in Golden State.

Kerr said that Lillard “looked like Steph Curry out there,” following the performance. The point guard did not take offense to the comment but said “I’m my own man.”
