San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach Ed Donatell will interview for the vacant Washington Redskins defensive coordinator job on Wednesday, reports NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Donatell has been with San Francisco for the past four seasons, before which he was the secondary coach with the Denver Broncos. He has been on the staffs of the Jets, Packers and Falcons in his career.

Washington is seeking to replace Jim Haslett, who parted ways with the franchise last week.

Chargers linebacker coach Joe Barry is also interviewing for the job, according to Rapoport, as well as former Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. The team is also reportedly interested in 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

In the five seasons under Haslett’s watch, the Redskins ranked 31st, 13th, 28th, 18th and 20th in total defense. The defense up gave 27.4 points per game in 2014, tied for 29th in the NFL.
