Before New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick took questions in his post-game press conference, he told reporters he was thinking of his father, Steve, after the Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks to win Super Bowl XLIX.

"The last time we won and I got Gatoraded, my dad was here, so I certainly think about him tonight," Belichick said after the Patriots beat the Seahawks, 28-24. "I'm sure he was watching, and I hope my mom's watching too."

Steve Belichick died of heart failure in 2005. Belickick's mother, Jeannette, was not at the game, but was watching from Annapolis, Md.

The Patriots rallied from a 24-14 deficit to win the game. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw four touchdowns, including a three-yard touchdown to receiver Julian Edelman with 2:02 remaining.

The victory marks Belichick's fourth Super Bowl title, all of which have come with the Patriots. The game was also Belichick's sixth appearance as a head coach in the Super Bowl, though the victory was Belichick's first since 2004.

New England took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter, but the Seahawks soon scored to tie the game. Both teams traded touchdowns to close the first half, and the Seahawks opened the third quarter with 10 straight points to take a 24-14 lead.

Tom Brady threw touchdown passes to Danny Amendola and Edelman in the fourth quarter, giving the Patriots a late 28-24 lead.
